CloudLIMS Version 1.87 Released!

CloudLIMS, an advanced SaaS in the cloud LIMS with zero upfront cost, accelerates biobanking, clinical, research, and testing laboratory operations by efficiently managing laboratory data, automating laboratory workflows, and following regulatory compliance, such as ISO/IEC 17025:2017, ISO 20387:2018, 21 CFR part 11, HIPAA among others. The new version of CloudLIMS, version 1.87, is equipped with a new Training management module that enables testing laboratories, such as cannabis, agriculture, food and beverage, to better meet the resource requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 compliance. The other highlights of the latest version are the functionality to validate inventory for kits, calculate time duration, and the functionality to copy list type attributes.

• Training Module: Managing training and competency records of laboratory personnel is an important requirement of ISO/IEC 17025:2017, an international standard that specifies the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories across the globe. To produce high-quality test results, it is important to ensure that only trained and competent staff performs analytical tests. The new Training management module of CloudLIMS enables laboratories to schedule and plan staff training. You can add, edit, and delete training records of laboratory personnel. While adding training records, you can add the start and the end date of training, the status of training, name of the trainer, and associate staff who would undergo the training. You can send email notifications to staff regarding the training schedule or training cancellation to keep them informed. You can batch import multiple training records from a file, reducing the time and efforts involved in manually entering the records. For each training record, you can mark the competency of staff who participated in the training. This helps laboratory managers to quickly identify staff members who are competent to perform an analytical test. Additionally, you can generate custom training reports in PDF or MS Excel file format in the preferred layout. You can assign role-based rights to laboratory users for adding, editing, or deleting training records, and for marking staff competency. Furthermore, you can select other laboratory users to notify them regarding the upcoming training, changes in the existing training schedule, or any updates regarding the staff competency. The new module helps laboratory managers ensure that only trained and technically competent staff perform analytical tests, enabling testing laboratories to better meet the resource requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
• Validate Inventory for Kits: CloudLIMS automatically validates the current quantity of inventory items while creating kits or importing kit records from a file. This functionality helps laboratories ensure that there is sufficient inventory available to create kits.
• Calculate Time Duration: The new version allows you to configure an attribute to calculate the time duration from a specified date to the current date and to stop the calculation if required. For example, you can configure an attribute to calculate the age of subjects or patients based on their date of birth. Similarly, you can configure another attribute to cease the age calculation in case of the death of patients. This functionality is particularly useful for biobanks and clinical laboratories where the age of subjects or patients needs to be updated with time.
• Copy List Type Attributes: While batch editing sample records, you can now copy values of list type sample attributes and automatically update other sample records. This functionality enables laboratories to quickly update sample records having list type attributes, saving efforts and time.
