Easily Configure Cannabis Laboratory Workflows using CloudLIMS,
a Cannabis LIMS Offered as SaaS

Cannabis laboratories test for cannabinoid levels, pesticide levels, terpenes, moisture, heavy metal, fungi and molds. Laboratories adhere to regulatory guidelines that demand strict accounting for every gram of the sample right from reception, consumption for testing to sales and disposal. Therefore, an automated workflow in cannabis laboratories should support sample traceability in compliance with state and local laws. It very important for labs to maintain the chain-of-custody which records the disposition of a specimen documenting the personnel involved in collection, handling of samples to their analysis. Such a workflow can withstand regular court scrutiny. CloudLIMS helps you automate regulatory compliance requirements in the laboratory with its configurable and expandable data model. With its extensive and configurable features for client and sample management, you can store and report on data generated from your experimental workflows.

CloudLIMS Benefits for Cannabis Testing Labs

CloudLIMS grows with your business by supporting your data management needs and navigating the changing regulatory environment of medical and recreational cannabis. With a cloud solution, the LIMS can be accessed anytime, anywhere, is quick to deploy and enables small labs to quickly automate.

CloudLIMS customers have realized benefits in the following ways:

  • Automated workflows to meet regulatory compliance such as ISO 17025:2017, 21 CFR part 11, GLP, and state and local regulations
  • A flexible data model to configure and accommodate specific requirements
  • A customizable test report generation module
  • Transparency and efficiency in managing chain of custody for samples and testing workflow
  • Real-time access to lab work status
  • Reduced costs and improved efficiency in managing accounts

Certificate of Analysis

Easily Achieve ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Accreditation

You can configure test validation preferences, send multiple tests for validation, thereby ensuring proper validation of each test result.

Supports management of QC samples and their test results. You can validate each test run by comparing the test results of QC samples with the test samples, helping you identify analytical errors.

Supports management of the calibration records of analytical equipment, sending out maintenance or calibration alert notifications, ensuring timely calibration of all equipment.

Supports management of documents such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), validated standard test methods, drawings, manuals, and enables their access to authorized personnel.

Manage training of laboratory personnel and their professional competency, notify staff about upcoming training(s), and generate custom training reports in PDF or MS Excel file format.

Advantages of CloudLIMS Cannabis LIMS

Follow Regulatory Compliance

Follow ISO/IEC 17025:2017, 21 CFR part 11, GLP, audit trail, state and local regulations.

Manage Samples and Test Results

Manage cannabis samples, tests, and multi-analyte test results. Import test results of multiple analytes from a file.

Generate Certificates of Analysis (CoA)

Generate personalized Certificates of Analysis (CoA) containing sample information, test details, and test results for multiple analytes.

Instrument Integration

Supports integration with analytical instruments via REST Application Programming Interface (API), ensuring data integrity.

Instrument Integration

Cannabis testing laboratories receive hundreds of samples and generate massive volumes of analytical data on a day-to-day basis. Manual transfer of data from analytical instruments to a LIMS is error-prone and time-consuming. For effective management of growing data volumes and laboratory automation, instrument integration is indispensable. Instrument integration facilitates data transfer from an analytical instrument to a LIMS, thereby eliminating chances of transcription errors, data redundancy, and ensuring data integrity. Furthermore, it helps in automating laboratory workflows, thereby saving time and resources, reducing turnaround times, and enhancing efficiency.

Instrument Integration with CloudLIMS

How CloudLIMS Supports Instrument Integration?

CloudLIMS supports instrument integration by the following two methods:

  • CSV/XLS File-based Integration:

CSV/XLS is a standard output file type generated by most analytical instruments. The CSV file mapping enables data to be imported from multiple instruments into a LIMS. CloudLIMS periodically reads instrument generated CSV files and maps the headers present in the files with the correct fields in CloudLIMS, thereby transferring the analytical data to CloudLIMS seamlessly.

CloudLIMS’ REST API can be used by developers to read and write data to/from an instrument for bi-directional data transfer. CloudLIMS REST API is compatible with JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) and XML (Extensible Markup Language) format for data export. For data import to CloudLIMS, the REST API supports JSON format.

CloudLIMS' Cannabis LIMS Functionality

Batch and Sample Management
Supports management of batches derived from harvest lots and process lots. CloudLIMS supports automatic sample accessioning, automatic assignment of sample lot ID to the incoming sample lots, maintaining sample Chain-of-Custody (CoC), and maintaining an account of every milligram of samples.
Test Management
Supports qualitative and quantitative tests for multiple analytes such as Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), Cannabidiol (CBD), etc. CloudLIMS maintains test Chain-of-Custody (CoC), supports importing of analyte test results from an instrument file, and automatically updates the sample quantity depending on the sample usage in tests.
Track Turnaround Time (TAT)
Supports monitoring of test turnaround time (TAT) based on the test start date and the test completion date, helping you establish if the test TAT is under the threshold and therefore evaluate laboratory performance and efficiency.
Client Portal
Enables your clients to place tests requests for multiple samples, view test results in real-time, download Certificates of Analysis (CoA) and invoices. This helps in reducing turnaround time and increasing customer satisfaction.
Services and Billing Management
Supports management of laboratory services such as sample test requests, besides catalog creation with defined pricing for each service offered by your laboratory.
Lab Inventory Management
Manage your laboratory inventory data for vital supplies, reagents and consumables along with vendor details. Schedule timely re-orders upon stock depletion.
