Wilmington, Delaware – November 17, 2015, Dr. Carolyn Compton, foremost thought leader on Biospecimen Sciences, is the newest addition to the growing scientific advisory board of CloudLIMS. She has an impressive career record spanning over five decades. She will be lending her expertise to formulate automated solutions for high-quality specimen collection and management.

Dr. Compton currently serves as the Chief Medical and Science Officer of the National Biomarkers Development Alliance, a member of the Biodesign Institute and the Chief Medical Officer of the Complex Adaptive Systems Initiative at Arizona State University. Dr. Compton is an adjunct professor of pathology at both, the University of Arizona and Johns Hopkins and a Professor of laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Compton earned her, PhD and MD degrees from Harvard Medical School, Boston. She currently holds several leadership and membership positions in professional organizations such as the College of American Pathologists, American College of Surgeons, Commission on Cancer and United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. She serves on the editorial boards of Biopreservation and Biobanking and Clinical Proteomics. Her major focus is on colorectal cancer, medical prediction, biospecimen and biobanking science, and biomarker development. She has authored more than 350 scientific manuscripts, review articles, books and chapters.

She is the recipient of prestigious awards for her meritorious services in the field of pathology and academics. She was America’s top physician and pathologist based on Consumers’ Research Council of America and received ISBER award for outstanding achievement in biobanking. She was conferred President’s Award and Frank W. Harman Award by the College of American Pathologists. In the field of academics, she is an outstanding medical educator and has received the faculty prize for excellence in teaching from Harvard Medical School.
