Wilmington, Delaware – September 21, 2015, CloudLIMS is pleased to announce that Dr. Jim Vaught has joined its scientific advisory board, lending his decades of experience in biobanking to the company’s innovative software solutions.

Dr. Vaught currently serves as the President of the International Society for Biological & Environmental Repositories (ISBER) for his second term in that role. In 1999, he was one of its founding members and served as its second president. He earned his Ph.D. from the Medical College of Georgia and has been working in the field of biorepository and biospecimen science for over 20 years. He spent 14 years at the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI), most recently as the Chief of the Biorepositories and Biospecimen Research Branch (BBRB) in the Cancer Diagnosis Program, Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis. During his tenure, he provided overall direction for the NCI’s component of the NIH Common Fund GTEx (Genotype-Tissue Expression) Project and the Biospecimen Research Network.

He serves on a number of biobank advisory groups including the Telethon-Italy Genetic Biobank Network, the Biobanques Network (France) and Provia Labs (Boston). He is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Disease Research Interchange which distributes more than 20,000 biomaterials, tissues, and organs annually to over 500 researchers. In addition to ISBER, Dr. Vaught is a member of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, the European Society for Biopreservation & Biobanking, the American Association of Blood Banks, and the American Association for Clinical Chemistry. From 2006 to 2012, he was the Senior Editor for Biospecimens and Biorepositories for the AACR journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention. Since 2012, he has served as the Editor-in-Chief of Biopreservation and Biobanking, the official journal of ISBER, which focuses on a variety of biopreservation and biobanking issues.
