Wilmington, Delaware – July 10, 2015, CloudLIMS is pleased to announce Dr. Elena Salvaterra has joined its Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Salvaterra will serve as an advisor to the Company, providing information and guidance regarding biobanking ethics and regulatory compliances.
Dr. Salvaterra is the co-founder of ESBB (European, Middle Eastern & African Society for Biopreservation & Biobanking) and the author of several peer reviewed publications in the field of biobanking. She participates as an invited speaker at several national and international conferences on biobanking. She is working as a Legal Consultant and Researcher for over ten years in the fields of traditional bioethics (informed consent, living wills, and advance directives).
In 2005, Dr. Salvaterra joined the biological resource centre of the Polyclinic Hospital of Milan as a policy advisor and researcher. She specifically worked on ethical, legal and social issues of biobanks ranging from blood and cord blood banks to disease oriented research biobanks. She cofounded and directed the “Biolaw Laboratory”, a “cell” of the Biological Resource Center in collaboration with Dr. Paolo Rebulla, hematologist. From 2011–2014, Dr. Salvaterra served at a national paediatric research centre where she worked on the ethical and legal aspects of paediatric biobanking mostly oriented to neurogenetic research. Besides this, she also served as an ExCo member of the ESBB from 2010-14.
In addition to ESBB, Dr. Salvaterra is a program committee member of International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories (ISBER). She is the co-founder of Inter Faculty Center for Scientific Education and Research, Italy.
